Writing for the big screen...

One of my favorite projects was scoring a documentary film for HBO  directed by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders in 2004 called Thinking XXX. The film "score" was predominantly accommodated by original music from various artists curated by the Music Director for the film and ultimately featured as an original compilation by Emperor Norton Records . There were additional sections of the film that required original score to progress and continue the compelling narrative of the subject; those were created by me and Sebastian Blanck working collaboratively. He and I co-produced and co-wrote the music he played the guitars and I engineered the music including the drums. I remember working with the film editor to indicate where the "big moment" in the music was meant to align with the revelation in the film about how much one of the subjects overcame in her life - there was a sense of triumph and pride that (I think) was captured perfectly by the music.
